Though my subjects may vary greatly, depending on what moves me at the moment, the style and colors will stay very similar. I associate most of what I paint to some form of music, that varies from classical to bluegrass and everything in between. There is a lot of symbolism, some of which is dictated by the painting and others that are devised from the music I am listening to as I paint.

"A painting must not be just a pretty picture, but must have a 'soul' of its own, otherwise it becomes a wall decoration, not unlike wallpaper".

When asked how I come up with an idea, all I can say is, "how do you paint a mockingbird's song and the smell of the morning dew drops glistening on a spider's web...all at the same time?" I don't know the answer....it just happens.
